Dr. Timothy Baghurst, Director
Tim is a professor in the College of Education. He has had over 100 peer-reviewed articles, over a dozen book chapters, and several books published. His most recent book, Coaching for Sports Performance, was published in 2020 and provides a practical overview of the many disciplines necessary to be an effective coach. His research and writings span a variety of coaching subdisciplines such as physical education, sport psychology, and sport management.
For many years, Tim researched muscle dysmorphia and male body image but now focuses much of his scholarship on coaching ethics and coach education. He presents around the world and is a research fellow of SHAPE America.

Dr. Megan Buning
Megan is a former Division I softball assistant and associate head coach at FSU, Coastal Carolina, and the University of Mississippi. As a former All-American softball pitcher at the University of South Carolina, she is a member of USC’s Athletic Hall of Fame and was named to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Women’s Legends Class in 2017. After her coaching career, she moved into academia in 2013, and is published in the sport psychology, counseling, and coach education fields. Her research foci involved examining the intersection of sport strategies and education. Megan enjoys focusing her instruction and research specifically on the use of mental performance techniques to enhance coaches’ and game officials’ performance. Megan is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (C.M.P.C.), a trained Mindful Sport Performance Enhancement (MSPE) instructor and is accredited to issue and interpret the DISC Profile and Test of Attentional and Interpersonal Styles (TAIS) assessments. Since 2015, Megan has used her spare time to serve as a SECNetwork+ and ACCX talent analyst for college softball along with providing mental performance training to various game officials, coaches, athletes, and teams.

Dr. Ben Freakley
Dr. Ben Freakley is the CEO and founder of Ready|Set|Resilient, a coaching business that uses best practices in sport, performance, and counseling psychology to help individuals and teams optimize performance. His experiences include working as a collegiate soccer head coach, professional soccer general manager and coach, and mental performance coach for Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball teams. He has also consulted for other entities such as Google and the military. Ben is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), certified coach developer through the International Center for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) and member of the American Counseling Association (ACA). His doctoral concentration was on performance and sport psychology with a clinical mental health specialization.
Dr. Steven Orris
Steve has worked as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach for over 20 years. Throughout his career, he has designed programs and helped coach student-athletes to 16 conference players of the year awards, 7 conference championships, and 1 national championship. Steve also serves as a professor and lecturer on topics of strength training, nutrition for athletic performance, and health and wellness for athletes. Coach Orris is certified as a sports nutritionist by the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) and is recognized as a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).
Dr. Cecile Reynaud
Coach Reynaud is a former NCAA volleyball coach at FSU who won 635 career matches and seven conference championships. She is a member of FSU’s Women's Athletics Hall of Fame and was recently elected Chair of the Board of Directors for USA Volleyball. She has written several books and coaching videos on volleyball and has served numerous boards and organizations spanning a 40-year career.
